Are you curious about microneedling treatment near me? You’re not alone! Microneedling skincare treatment can make a marked difference in promoting a more youthful appearance. Your Charlotte, North Carolina dentist, Dr. Obi, from Eden MedSpa, offers microneedling for aging skin to residents in Charlotte and neighboring communities like Rock Hill, South Carolina. Here are some questions we’re often asked about this procedure.
Microneedling is a procedure in which thin needles are used to make very small holes in the top layer of your skin. The holes don’t cause visible damage, but they do stimulate your body to produce more collagen and elastin, two proteins that improve your skin’s health and appearance.
Microneedling can be used to treat wrinkles, sagging skin, stretch marks, discolorations, enlarged pores, and minor scars. It can also be helpful in treating hair loss caused by an autoimmune condition or excessive sweating.
There are three main types of microneedling. These are standard microneedling, microneedling with protein-rich platelets, and microneedling with radiofrequency. Each procedure has its pros and cons and individual costs. After a thorough evaluation of your condition, Dr. Obi can recommend the type of microneedling best suited for you. Â
The number of treatments needed will depend on the type of microneedling you choose, the problems you’d like to treat, the condition of your skin, and the results you hope to achieve. For optimal results, Dr. Obi recommends treatment every 6-12 weeks.
Microneedling isn’t a fast skin improvement technique. On average, it can take 2-4 weeks to start seeing results. These results will improve over time. Each session can produce results lasting up to 6 weeks. For long-term results, a series of 3-6 sessions at six-week intervals may be recommended. Â
When your treatment is performed by a trained professional like Dr. Obi, there’s less risk of severe side effects or complications. Side effects may include skin redness or swelling for the first four to five days of your procedure. You can use ice packs to minimize these symptoms. It’s also important to stay out of the sun until your skin heals. Don’t apply makeup to your skin within the first 24 hours of your procedure. Scarring and bruising are additional side effects that may occur with this treatment.
Dr. Obi will review your medical history and medications you’re taking during your initial consultation to determine if you’re a good candidate for microneedling treatment. You can also consult your primary physician to see if microneedling is a safe option for you.
