Enhancing one’s facial appearance with dermal fillers has become increasingly popular in recent years. While this cosmetic treatment can provide amazing results, many still have questions and concerns about the procedure. When they visit our office at Eden MedSpa to learn more about this treatment, Dr. Obinna Oriaku, our board-certified physician, can answer patients’ questions regarding the procedure and aftercare. Below are some frequently asked questions about dermal filler treatments:
Injectable dermal fillers improve facial features, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, and add volume. Depending on the type of dermal filler used, they are usually composed of either collagen or hyaluronic acid, both of which are found naturally in the body.
Our dermal fillers can be used on various areas of the face, including the following:
When you schedule a consultation visit with our team, you can speak to us about the areas of the face you would like to improve and determine if this treatment is best for you!
The dermal filler treatment procedure typically takes 15-30 minutes and is relatively painless. For added comfort, a topical numbing cream is applied prior to the injections. Depending on your desired results, Dr. Oriaku will use a small needle or cannula to carefully inject the dermal filler into specific areas of your face.
The type of dermal filler used and personal factors like metabolism and lifestyle affect how long they last. On average, dermal fillers can last anywhere from six to almost 18 months, depending on the brand used and the area treated.
As with any cosmetic treatment, there are potential side effects and risks. These may include temporary bruising, swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site. In rare cases, more serious complications, such as infection or allergic reactions, may occur. Discussing your medical history and any concerns with Dr. Oriaku before undergoing a dermal filler treatment is important.
